My kids love breakfast. It's as simple as that, and they're rarely more excited than on a leisurely Saturday morning when I have the time to cook something special for them. This song started with a laundry list of breakfast options, and quickly evolved into a new song. I think they ended up eating pancakes that morning, which is odd since that's the one breakfast food that isn't named in this song... go figure.
lyrics
Breakfast
I used to believe that suppertime was the greatest thing,
And I used to say that lunchtime was the best time of day
But then I came to realize, the best time is opening eyes,
‘Cause there’s nothing quite as good as lying in bed, and thinking of food
I want some breakfast, bacon or ham,
Scrambled eggs, muffin & jam
Breakfast, butter & bread,
The only thing that gets me out of bed
‘Cause in the morning when the sun comes out,
I open eyes, I wanna shout
For breakfast – almost anything,
‘Cause I am growing and a growing boy needs these things
Breakfast, breakfast
I used to tell everyone
That snacking time was the perfect fun
It always felt so great
Just counting down the minutes to the food I ate
But then one day I learned
That a happy meal is the one that’s earned
After all those hours asleep
When your tummy is a’grumbling it’s time to eat
It’s breakfast, bacon or ham,
Scrambled eggs, muffin & jam
Breakfast, butter & bread,
The only thing that gets me out of bed
‘Cause in the morning when the sun comes out,
I open eyes, I wanna shout
For breakfast – almost anything,
‘Cause I am growing and a growing boy needs these things
Breakfast, breakfast
Scrambled eggs, bacon or ham
Bread and butter, muffin and jam
The only thing that gets me out of bed
The only thing that gets me out of bed
Breakfast, bacon or ham,
Scrambled eggs, muffin & jam
Breakfast, butter & bread,
The only thing that gets me out of bed
‘Cause in the morning when the sun comes out,
I open eyes, I wanna shout
For breakfast – almost anything,
‘Cause I am growing and a growing boy needs these things
Breakfast, breakfast…
Bacon and eggs.
