C'mon, what's better than a birthday party? The five-year-old was the lead writer on this party anthem - only a five-year-old could come up with the brutal honesty to say "here's your present... where's the cake?" The middle part points out how weird it is (from a kid's point-of-view) that a song like "Happy Birthday" can be owned by someone who collects royalties, thereby keeping the song beyond the budget of almost any movie or television show ever. Take note - if anyone wants to make this tune a new standard, let's talk... we'll let it go for cheap.
lyrics
Birthday Party
It’s a birthday party,
Here’s yer present, where’s the cake?
It’s a birthday party,
And it makes you want to say…. HEY!
You got a cake, and presents too
Your friends are here, it’s all for you
You got your parents, and cousins too
Your older brother is hiding in his room
It’s a birthday party,
Here’s yer present, where’s the cake?
It’s a birthday party,
And it makes you want to say…. HEY!
Pin a tail upon a donkey, they say it’s fun,
Whack a piñata eat a hamburg bun
Play a game of tag, wear some hats and stuff,
Eat some cake and pizza, just can’t get enough
It’s a birthday party,
Let’s all go outside and run
It’s a birthday party,
Happy birthday, let’s have fun…
I’d like to sing you Happy Birthday,
But somebody owns the song ‘n’ if we sing it, they make money
That just seems wrong, so I wrote this song instead,
And we are singin’ loud
And you’re the only one who’s getting presents now!
It’s a birthday party, here’s yer present, where’s the cake?
It’s a birthday party, and it is your special day
It’s a birthday party, c’mon let’s get out and play
It’s a birthday party, it makes you want to say…
Hey! Hey!
It’s a birthday party, let’s get outside and run
It’s a birthday party, Happy birthday, let’s have fun!
It’s a birthday party, here’s yer present, where’s the cake?
It’s a birthday party, and it makes you want to say… HEY!
HEY!
