A collaboration between a Dad and his two daughters, ages 7 and 5. The girls wrote the melody and about 95% of the lyrics. I just captured the flow.
lyrics
Birdie in the Nest
Birdie in the nest, birdie in the nest, flying all around
Birdie in the nest, birdie in the nest, flying all around
I think that I am gonna fly away
Like a big airplane in the sky
I think that I am gonna float away
Like a leaf on a river on a sunny day,
And I will fly from my nest,
But not too far
‘Cause my nest is my home
With my sister and my brother,
I’ll fly just far enough away
To find something to do for another day,
Like a birdie in the nest, birdie in the nest, flying all around
Birdie in the nest, birdie in the nest, flying all around
Flying all around,
Flying all around this beautiful town
Flying all around
Flying up and side to side, and upside down
Sunny summer days are fine,
Like a great big hug around you all of the time
A light breeze underneath your wings
Will lift you higher up to everything
I’ll fly from my nest,
But remember the way
To get right back home at the end of the day
I’ll fly just far enough
To remember all the people at home I love
Birdie in the nest, birdie in the nest, flying all around
Birdie in the nest, birdie in the nest, flying all around
Flying all around, flying all around this big ol’ town
Flying all around, find something to see, safe and sound
I think that I am gonna fly away
Like a big airplane in the sky
I think that I am gonna float away
Like a leaf on a river on a sunny day,
And I will fly from my nest,
But not too far
‘Cause my nest is my home
With my sister and my brother,
I’ll fly just far enough away
To find something to do for another day,
Like a birdie in the nest, birdie in the nest, flying all around
Birdie in the nest, birdie in the nest, flying all around
Like a birdie in the nest, birdie in the nest, flying all around
Birdie in the nest, birdie in the nest, flying all around
Flying all around,
Flying all around this beautiful town
Flying all around
Flying up and side to side, and upside down
